ARRL Announces Revised QRP Power Limits Effective April 1.
In response to the increasing availability of high-powered “QRP” transceivers (10–20 watts), the ARRL has voted to redefine QRP standards: CW/Data: 2.5 watts maximum; SSB: 5 watts maximum New category: µQRP (Micro QRP) at 500 milliwatts This change is intended to: Preserve the spirit of true low-power operation Encourage antenna efficiency over brute force Reduce “QRP inflation” in contest scoring Stations running 10W will now be classified as “QRO-Lite”
